Masjid Qiblatain: The Mosque Where the Direction of Prayer Changed
Fulfilling a Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH)
One of the most important benefits of offering Salam at Masjid al-Nabawi is that it fulfills a Sunnah (tradition) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He himself encouraged his followers to send their blessings upon him when visiting his grave. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold." (Sahih Muslim). Therefore, by offering Salam, you are following the Prophet’s guidance and receiving blessings from Allah in return.
Increased Reward and Forgiveness
Offering Salam at the Prophet’s grave is a means of earning great rewards. According to various hadiths, sending peace and blessings upon the Prophet (PBUH) brings immense spiritual benefits, including the forgiveness of sins. The Prophet (PBUH) himself mentioned that those who send Salam upon him will be rewarded by Allah, and their supplications will be accepted. It is a way to seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness, especially in the blessed and sacred surroundings of Masjid al-Nabawi.
Strengthening the Connection with the Prophet (PBUH)
Sending Salam in front of the Prophet’s resting place strengthens the connection between the individual and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is a means of expressing love and respect for the Prophet, reminding oneself of his teachings and role in the establishment of Islam. This act brings about a deeper emotional and spiritual connection, as the act of honoring the Prophet strengthens one's faith and increases devotion.
A Source of Peace and Tranquility
When visiting Masjid al-Nabawi and offering Salam to the Prophet (PBUH), many pilgrims report a sense of inner peace and tranquility. The environment surrounding the mosque and the blessed grave is spiritually uplifting, and sending Salam brings about a calming effect on the heart and soul.
